My Farewell to Breaking Bad

Tonight is the finale to the TV drama Breaking Bad, about Walter White. If you have watched it like me for several seasons you have seen him go from a High School teacher to a cooker of Crystal Meth. He even led one of his students astray and ruined his life too. Walter's Meth formula created some of the purest variety and was blue in color. Because of that it brought top dollar and the really bad guys wanted the formula too.

Now I don't know anything much about Meth except that making and selling it will make you lots of money and using it will destroy lives. It is also quite dangerous to manufacture but Walter did it in a controled laboratory environment. Along the way he became more and more corrupt, money grubbing, lied, cheated and even killed people. His wife and son have become alienated from him.

What does he have left? His cancer is back and it doesn't look good for him. He has millions of dollars but his wife is wanting him to turn himself into the Feds. So what will happen to Walter?

I want him to live out his days in financial luxury. It seems his days are numbered anyway. Since his family is cut off from him just go off into the sunset, Walter and make the best of the mess you have made. You are going to have to pay the price of loneliness for committing all those sins and ruining peoples lives.

It's coming on now so let's see how it turns out. How would you like to see it end? I never understood why Walter never had a smartphone. He certainly could have afforded one. He destroyed his flip phone in the last episode. But now who would he call anyway?

Hi Debbie,

We heard about the show and their award..we watched it for the first time the other night and I have to admit we were disappointed..personally I thought the acting was so-so and we both agreed we would not have taken the time to watch all the esisodes..I guess we just expect too much! Interesting story but in my humble opinon poorly executed.

I understand. I took patience to get into it. And it was a study on ordinary people going astray with temptations. The acting is simple because it is to be a window into the lives of plain people that got caught up in doing wrong. So the characters are really quite good playing such simple beings. It will be all over tonight. It won't be pretty the way it ends.

Hi Debbie,  Living here in ABQ and knowing Breaking Bad is filmed here would make one think I might know this show upsidedown and inside out...well I don't.  I have not even watched one episode.  It a huge hit here, but we just never got started with the series. Meth is a horrible drug with incomprehensalbe physical, pschological and spiritual damage. I just hope this show didnt glorify the drug in any way.

On the contrary, it showed how miserable people can be and how doing something wrong like that can mess up your whole life. Their lives fell apart because of the greed and getting mixed up with the wrong crowd.

I have not seen this show. We are usually reading our books rather than watching TV.

Have a wonderful week.

I was right there on the couch watching it, too. I think it ended appropriately...

The key to this show is watching it from the beginning. It is all about the transformation. It isn't the kind of show that you can 'dabble' in watching.

There was a point when I had to stop watching it (during the Gus season) because it was to disturbing/violent for me. I got back on the horse, however, and have enjoyed following it to its conclusion.

Debbie, It's interesting how there are some shows that you just get into and others that you don't.  I'm hooked on a few series, like Nashville.  It's hard to make a "bad guy" into a sympathetic character, so it sounds like "Breaking Bad" was skillfully done.

I started to watch that in the beginning, but it reminded me too much of Weeds on Showtime. I did watch the last few episodes with my boyfriend (who is a huge fan). I thought it gave viewers closure.

I had mixed emotions about watching it. It was a story how a normal, good person can take some wrong turns and Go Bad. Roy like you, a good book can't be beat.

I don't think it glorified meth trafficking at all. It made it seem like a bad way to go.

Holly, I had those same feelings at times that it was just going south, which it did. I am okay with it ending the way it did.

Gail, I live 30 minutes from Nashville, grew up there and I don't watch Nashville. I haven't gotten into it.

Suzanne, Yes that chapter is over tragically for most of them. Everyone involved was hugely effected.
