A few years ago, I remember an advertising campaign which went along the lines of a consumer asking someone if they can install floors, or carpet, fix a leak or their car etc. The answer was always the same, "No, but I know a man who can."
Last week some clients settled on a home along the Main Line in Bryn Mawr, and at settlement I reminded them if they needed any contractors, give me a call as I have a list of local contractors who cover most clients needs, be it electrical, plumbing, heating, air conditioning, flooring, windows, landscapers or contractors etc.
Just as during the buying process I am able to suggest contacts for mortgages, inspections and title insurance, I can recommend contractors as needed. It is always up to the client to do their due diligence, check pricing and make the choice for themselves. I rarely give just one name as I have a large network of contacts.
Well this client took me at my word, and has called a couple of times for names of carpet installers, painters, and a plumber to install the new water heater which they want to do before the one in the house fails as per their home inspectors suggestion. I love helping people, and connecting a contractor with a client helps two people, the homeowner and the contractor.
So remember, I may be a Realtor, and not know how to landscape or install a water heater but I know a man or woman who can! Give me a call if you need help along the Main Line or if you know a really good contractor.
