Google Custom URL's...Good Idea or No?

I am hoping some of my pals here on ActiveRain can assist me on this....I received an email saying that I could Get a custom URL for my Google+ profile. This lets you easily point folks to your profile (no more long URLs!). They sent me a URL that they reserved for me. Has anyone done this? I know initially it is free, but they said that they reserve the right to take the URL back at a future time. It certainly is easier to remember/point to than the one I have now by default. I welcome any comments, from those who have done this, or are contemplating it.

Renee, so you did go ahead and take the "logical" google URL that matches your name? I have the same problem...the actress Kristen Johnston, although she spells her name a bit differently...sounds like I should snag it! How do we make sure the old/previous ones still point/etc? HELP!

I received a similar email, I believe this will help me remenber my google + profile and I think is a great idea. Nothing worse then trying to remenber those letters and numbers .

I would certainly think it's a good idea since Google loves branding and when they see you are active in your marketing and branding I would assume they would rank you better over all.. Go for it!
