SNOOPY September 25, 1999-October 31, 2013
It has been almost a week...
This is our story about our beloved Pet, it will also give any Animal Owners information for in -home Hospice/End of Life care & Pet Cremation...YES, of your animal child....which for us, made all the difference...
Everyone said the day would come when you would have to leave...we have had you since you were 6 weeks old and your Daddy and I were only married 2 weeks...since then we have always been a FAMILY.
"They" say talking about it will help...I can't tell you how much you meant or how quiet it is without your constant BARKING...your little brother LINUS is sad, and looks for you to boss him around..
.
You got really sick 4 weeks ago and then last week...we were making that dreaded call....we promised you Snoopy, we would never take you to the vet when that time came, like so many of us, we hoped you would "go" in your sleep...very rarely does it ever happen that way...
I started looking about a year ago for a mobile vet Doctor...someone whom would come to your(Snoopy) most trusted place, where you were most comfortable, where your family lived....when the time would come...I wanted to be prepared...it is uncoventional so I figured it would take some time...
As it turns out, in Charlotte, NC, we came across Dr. Keith Tillman...one of the nicest, sweetest, kind, gentle Veternarian we had ever spoken to or talked with...we did not stop going to our regular vet, but, we found that he had End of Life Care and Hospice, and he made....House Calls...
In the last 2 weeks...he was on standby, and finally, it was time to make the call...Daddy and I were in agony and tears...he came by at 4pm, last Thursday...from what I have heard from other Pet owners, there is such dread in bringing a pet to the Animal Hospital for the "Final" procedure...I am so sorry for anyone who has, who will, or must go through that...my heart goes out to you...
What the take away is...my baby Snoopy passed away in his home, it was the most dignified, loving, caring way we knew... this is a new option and not alot of Doctors do this...I cannot express how, as a Pet Parent, I was so happy to have found that Doctor...my little boy was given a sedation to fall asleep...and then ...was gone...surrounded by his family and younger Beagle brother...
Lastly, most of us Pet Parents know that our pets are usually cremated and given back to us...this Vet had partnered with a local Funeral Home who now offered Pet Services...YES, YOU JUST READ THAT CORRECT...what is the most agonizing point in a Pet owners life...suddenly became so much like care for a human loved one that...you know you have done everything you could in life and death for your Pet...
I write this because we picked Snoopy's remains up yesterday, we were met at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home by the Pet Pilgrimage Representatives & Director, we felt like Snoopy was trully honored by all these people who really understood that this was a FAMILY MEMBER...
We loved that Dog more than anything...below is the Doctor's info and Pet Cremation Service...they took the worst dreaded day and made us feel like Snoopy went out of this life as caring and dignified as he deserved.
Hug and kiss your pet child today!
