DO REALTORS GET HOLIDAYS OFF?

By
Real Estate Agent with Austin Texas Homes

Do Realtors get Holidays off? Many Realtors are actually  independent business owners who hang their license with a cooperative Broker. As such they respond to their customers needs year round. Holidays are often the best times for their clients to view properties since they have the day off.

Certainly a Realtor can say NO or recommend a different time, but many will be busy this Thanksgiving weekend helping clients who have property needs. It may be an emergency property management need, a customer request to view a listing, a buyer who has located a home that may work and they want to see more information including the sellers disclosure.

As for me I have one client appointment Friday morning on 3 properties in Austin. I have also been handed a research project by another client who is out of the country. The project will take some time and probably cause me to lose my nap time on Thanksgiving after lunch but seriously I love this job so no problem.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO YOU ALL!

Alan-I'll take off, in a sense. I will not show homes or do listing presentations on Thanksgiving or Christmas. Always thinking about the business though, but that is certainly not as demanding, physically, as many others who will not only have to think about their busineess but be actively involved over the holidays. Have a good one.

For me, I'm always responsive to my clients, whether I'm on vacation or out with the family because it doesn't feel like work.

I think thats the difference from other agents/brokers.  I LOVE WHAT I DO!!!

One of my favorite quotes is:  "Love what you do, and you'll never work a day in your life."

Happy Thanksgiving!

Yep I worked like crazy today talked to two clients, one loan officer, and another REALTOR. Researched county on line records to find out info of a piece of land and printed, copied, and filed documents.... So yeah we work holidays.

Being a realtor reminds of my news reporting days. There is no such thing as holidays. You work long hours and are pretty much on call.

Alan, We set our schedules so we can take off or work whichever we choose. I don't like letting my clients down but I generally don't work on Thanksgiving Day. Happy Thanksgiving.

I check email and voice mail (if a call comes in) but don't show property or meet with clients. Today I did CMAs and set up a tour for an out of town buyer next week but never left the house. Tomorrow I will preview properties but don't have any appointments...yet...so I can set my own schedule tomorrow.
