Deciding what to do to benefit my business during the holiday slow time is a matter of deciding what to do first.
I have a growing list of things that need to be done - some that I look forward to and others that I pretty much dread.
First - what I dread: Everything that has to do with learning how to best use Google's for better search rankings. I keep fooling with authorship, trying to put share buttons on my pages, etc. I don't enjoy any of that, and I don't do it very well. It seems like every time I force myself to tackle this, I later go back and un-do something because it doesn't work correctly.
The whole process makes me feel like a dunce.
The better stuff -What I look forward to:
- Tackle my list of new letter sets. Through summer and fall agents have asked if I have a letter set for this or that purpose and I've had to say "Not yet." This month I hope to polish off that list by getting a few new sets written, along with their appropriate landing pages.
- Write some new Kindle books - The little one I did last winter is doing pretty well, so I should do more.
- Put together an e-book on writing tips for real estate agents - compiled from dozens of blog posts and articles I've written over the past few years.
- Add more letter sets and content to a secondary website that deals only with letters.
- Update my primary website - add links to newsletters, etc.
- Follow up with past clients. Check their websites and perhaps suggest new pages.
It's easy to see - I look forward to everything to do with writing. I even enjoy creating new web pages and getting them uploaded. I don't look forward to figuring out how to interact with Google.
So - any bets on what gets done first? Like a kid, I'll probably go for the dessert before the veggies.
