You may have been hacked. Even before yesterday's (Dec. 4) disclosure that Facebook accounts are among the passwords that have been compromised, there were five other serious password highjackings:
- 152,445,165 Adobe accounts
- 859,777 Stratfor accounts
- 532,659 Gawker accounts
- 453,427 Yahoo! accounts
- 37,103 Sony accounts
You can determine if your email address was in those five earlier breaches by checking the following site:
I found out that my Adobe account was one of the compromised ones. Of course, I have now changed that password. In fact, Adobe made me change the password as soon as I tried to sign on to the site.
I only hope that Facebook (the most recent incident is not included in the Haveibeenpwned search) will do the same for its users. They have known about the hack for over 24 hours, and they certainly could have posted a warning on the site by now. It is possible that they are more worried about a public relations nightmare than about keeping users informed.
