Yesterday I did a Tennessee retirement about a couple living in California and chosing to retire to Tennessee.

Earlier today I heard on the radio(WS Journal was quoted) about a couple of towns in East Tennessee being mentioned as great places to retire to. I researched that idea and only found other sources quoting a recent WS Journal article(which I could not find).

However, I ran across this article written last year about best places to retire to. In the article US News is quoting Bankrate.com. In Bankrate.com's analysis they use these three criteria: cost of living, access to healthcare and crimes rates. Here are the best states to retire to according to that article.

Notice in the article that the usual states known as great retirement places are not ranked very highly such as Arizona #33, California #48, Florida #19. They listed Tennessee #1 followed by Louisiana at #2.

Mike, It sounds as though Tennessee has a lot to offer people who find the area appealing.  It's great to know you're a local resource there to help them.

We have spent a lot of time in Eastern Tennessee, in the Smoky Mountains.   Cades Cove, Sevierville, Pigeon Forge.  Even with all the tourists, it is a wonderful place!
