Trees, Bears, Hodags and a few Cranes in Monico Wisconsin
Monico, in addition to having some sort of strange multilegged hodag in its park is also the place where we have seen more bears than any other place in Wisconsin.
It seems like every time you stop hiking to do an inventory plot one of these critters jumps up from where it was laying down hiding to let us pass and runs away, while startling the forester as well.

We all have to take those tourist shots at times.
Sorry Debbie, that fellow in Monico was too quick to let us take a picture, but here is a Hodag in Rhinelander that I got a shot of while the boys were wrestling with it.
I like the idea of acting like tourists. Makes you stop and look around for a little bit.
Yes Bill, it can be fun to take a little time away from work to enjoy the sights that others come from so far away to enjoy.

Well, thank goodness you explained what a Hodag is. I think there is one in my back garden under the trees near the compost heap. I just didn't know what to call it!

Bob, first thing I had to do was Google what a Hodag is. A little surprised living in northern Illinois most of my life and spending a lot of time in Wisconsin that I never heard of it before.
