In a Perfect World.....

By
Real Estate Agent with EXP Realty 414-525-0563 57026-90 Broker

perfect worldIn a perfect world...every profession would "play by the rules" established for their profession...Lawyers would not stretch out cases to earn more money....Realtors would not practice outside of their area of expertise...contractors would only do just what is necessary and stand behind the work they perform.  These are all "perfect world" scenarios....and what a wonderful world it would be if that were true.  But it is not....and it would seem from this Blogger's perspective that part of the reason to Blog on any platform is to "tell like it is"....the reality of life....and the experiences you have in it. Not always good ones...but hopefully explaining the ones that were less than perfect will give another aheads upllied professional....or a consumer a Heads Up in a situation that they may encounter.

Not every experience is pleasant or perfect and if a blog about one that serves as a caution, saves one person from making a mistake...makes them think twice about a situation before acting on it...the Blog has done the world a favor in trying to make it "more perfect".

The only way we can improve the image of the industry and allied professions is by being aware of who is doing what and what can be done to make it better.   If we all work at shining the light on the true professionals and making others aware of less than professional conduct...we are on our way.....to a Perfect World.   Amen and Women.

Amen. Unfortunately, we don't live in a perfect world. I believe as long as I keep my head up and do my share to practice and follow all the rules,  that my behavior will rub off on those less imperfect fellow agents.

Good morning Sally. I have never seen a "Perfect World", I am not sure that is possible, but we have to do our part, to make it just a little better.

I have spent 30+ years on Professional Standards trying to make our industry better Sally.  We all need to "police" our industry so the regulators don't.

Morning Sally / David, I might take a different approach to this.  I agree that when an individual is in over their head, they should certainly get someone experienced in that area to work with, to get mentored.  But in a perfect world, should we ALL not go outside the box to learn and develop some personal growth?  Failing is part of learning, for if you are not failing, you are NOT doing things!  TAKE along the experienced to learn from.

Agree and disagree Dan...having seen agents who do not know short sales take Sellers into foreclosure it is  too difficult a lesson/punishment for everyone involved.  Risk going after FSBO's....or a new marketing approach but not when it comes to other people's futures.

Sally,

We can make a difference by focusing on the positive aspects and people in our industry, rather than pointing out the negative.  Whenever, someone tells me that agents are...(fill in the blanks), I tell them, that they have not met the agents I know, and would they like an intro?  A

I think a warning of pitfalls in lending or real estate is helpful to everyone....it may be a situation you have not yet encountered...but may at some point.

The real estate industry is far behind the curve in developing a professional image.  There is a surplus of several hundred thousand agents and many of them will never be professionals.
