What's in Your Spam?

In this case I'm not referring to the popular lunch meat. ( I don't want to know what's in that ) I'm talking about the spam folder associated with your email account. Do you check it...ever? If so how often?

What's in Your Spam?Occasionally I do find emails that aren't spam in my spam folder. That is very rare, but it's been worth the time it takes to check this out, when I do find something that doesn't belong there.

Recently I heard from an Active Rain member. I had sent her an email through AR and she found it several days later in her spam folder. Now if that email had been a buyer or seller lead, the chances are that customer would have already found another agent. So the point is...check your spam folder. You never know what you might be missing out on.

Here's a bit of information on spam emails:

Spam is known as junk email.

Clicking on a link might send you to a phishing web site or you might pick up something bad on your computer like malware, or worse yet, a virus.

Spam is named for the lunch meat. Yes it truly is. The name for spam email comes from a Monty Python skit in which spam is described as unavoidable and all around us.

Spam is a mass email that is designed to force a message on people who don't necessarily want the message.

Spam filters for your email account look for message headers that indicated the message was sent by a spam engine rather than a real email sender.

While you might think most people are aware of being spammed and know not to click that certain spam email, there are people out there that aren't as savvy and will open that email and click that link. This helps to keep the spammers in business.

It is worth the time to check that spam folder. If it's all spam...empty it. You might also be surprised at what you find there.

I've lived on Colorado's Western Slope for over 24 years. I love this area and all it has to offer, and I enjoy sharing what I know about my home. As a REALTOR®, I also love to share my expertise in this area as well. If you need any real estate information for Montrose County, or Delta County, Colorado...please give me a call.
