This is a picture of my estate sale find:
Yesterday I went to an estate sale in Marsh Lakes near Amelia Island Florida. I found this antique secretary desk, since it was the last day of the sale I got it for half price.
The finial is missing from the top. Any suggestions as to where I can find one?
I put this in my home office. I now have two secretary desks and a beautiful writing desk. I may have a desk fettish!

Perhaps you can put a fenial in the middle and it will look like it was planned!

Do an internet search for hardwood finial. Choose the one you like, stain it to match the Secretary.

Great find and what a treasure. I'd say to email an antique dealer of some good repute and ask them. Maybe they can tell you about the period and style. I'd have for you to refinish and maybe ruin the original patina.

Carla, I thought if I found a finial and it wasn't the exact same color, maybe I would do gold leaf and antique it.
