Saturday Smiles: Clouds, Quince & Quincy!

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Napa Consultants DRE00893924

We were blessed with lots rain last night, and everyone at the Santa Barbara Farmers Market was talking about it.  It is still cloudy this morning and sprinkling.  We actually used our windshield wipers, and remembered what rain sounds like on our roof and skylight.

Quince, the fruit, is pictured above.  We tasted a slice, it was sweet and pulpy.  The farmer told us it is best used in baking.  It is an interesting looking fruit, and is related to the family Rosaceae which includes apples and pears.

And here is Quincy, our five months old Abby kitten.  He loves having his toys tossed so that he can bring them back to us to throw again.  It is the retriever in him.  We are enjoying his company, and Zoe is beginning to tolerate him.

Wishing you a lovely Saturday full of smiles,

A/R - The slight patter on my skylight alerted me to some rain too but it was drizzle than "lots" as far as I can tell.  Glad Quincy is acclimating to life in the Siegel household.

Chef Dolores says she has not yet cooked quince. That may be a new adventure.

Have fun with Quincy this weekend. We have a chilly weekend in Maryland.

Hi Ron & Alexandra - Thanks for the update & photo  of Quincy - he's a very handsome cat. Several of my previous cats were retrievers, and were also great at ping pong ball hockey.

I love the rain in the Spring and Summer. Not so much now as it is cold and now expecting snow.

The biggest smile was evoked from Quincy. What a handsome and intelligent little creature.  Glad you got some much needed rain. My kids were in Southern California before their visit here - they spoke of heat and the need for water.

Sharon Lee Abbys are fetchers, and when they have kittens, the mother brings them toys and teaches them to play...they are a lot of fun, very active, and intelligent. Michael Jacobs it rained all night and surprised us with its noisiness, and it looks like we may get more this evening.  Hope it comes your way too. Scott Larson our storms usually move your way, which is how I time our trips to Utah.

Thanks everyone for your comments, isn't amazing how one side of the country's unpleasant weather is heaven for this side of the country,,,Wishing you all a great rest of the weekend.  A

Several of our kitties have been retrievers, Alexandra. They seemed to take to it naturally.  Must be in the genes. Quincy is so cute!  I've heard of Quince but never tasted it--some adventures are best left to the future.

Alexandra - when I was 12 years old in summer I ended up with my 16-y.o. cousin in a Georgian village in the mountains. The did not have electricity, and lived like people lived before all these wonderful things like fridge, and as common as lights...

We had nothing to do, and played that game of what we called "football" and which is here for some unknown reason called soccer, while footbal is reserved for something played not even by feet... but I digress.

We did not have a ball, so we tried whatever we could to use instead of the ball. Nothing survvived the kicking, and only quince was so tough, that you could take of the sking, but it would not go soft. It was still hard like a rock and lasted forever.

It is a late fruit, and by that time it wasn't ripe at all, of course...
