2015 Future Garbage and Recycling Information
Basic Information
In early 2015, the City of Waukesha will start a new system of automated garbage and recycling collection.
Every eligible household* will be receiving two new provided carts —one for garbage and one for recycling. These will be delivered in late January/early February directly to resident homes.
Additionally, recycling will change to "single sort" meaning all recyclables can be mixed together in the recycling cart, not having to separate paper from bottles/cans.
Garbage will still be picked up weekly and recycling will still be picked up every-other-week.
*This service only applies to eligible households. For instance, businesses and apartment complexes are not included. Also, properties who have alley set out for garbage and recycling or private drives (condos) will not be getting new carts due to spacing issues.
Carts
Residents will be given two carts - one for garbage and one for recycling. The garbage cart will have a black lid and the recycling cart will have a blue lid. See more information in the FAQs below.
The carts will be delivered in late January/early February.
