Recently, while searching for new listings, I noticed a house that had photos taken above the roof line. From that high vantage point it either had to be from a hot air balloon or a drone!  I thought the FAA was still evaluating the expansion of drone use in the real estate market and had not approved it yet.  Am I mistaken?

I was in Cancun last November and witnessed a drone being used to videotape an outdoor wedding on the beach.  What a site to see.  The person operating the drone had it go out over the ocean then fly back to take views of the wedding party and hotel.

Using a drone though in real estate may prove to be challenging in my area.  I sell in the mountain community of Big Canoe and we have TONS of trees.  Maneuvering a camera in between and over the trees would take some practice.

What are your thoughts?

Hi Lenn - I couldn't see much from the street view until I went around and got a look from the side. Is that your red pick-up?

Lenn - You may have a good point about agents using Google Earth, but then again, maybe there are agents using drones to take photos and video. Thanks for sharing this re-blog.

The professional photogreapher I use always uses a drone when shooting his pics. I like the idea of it!

The majority of the homes in our market are not drone worthy sitting on a postage size lot with neighbors junk in the backyard. Sometimes too much information can hurt. You however have a pretty place.

Lenn that is a big house and a lot of land.  That riding lawn mower is going to get a lot of use this year :)

George.  HA!  The riding mower got it's first work out of the season today.

Of course the battery was too low to start the motor.  Now I'm the proud owner of jumpber cables.

Debbie.  I agree completely.  Too much info is NOT good.  However, having interior photos in the MLS and IDX these days is a good thing.

Julie.  When it's needed, it's got to be wonderful.

Troy.  More power to them.  I admire that kind of originality tremendously.

Dick.  No pick up truck in my yard.

Good morning Lenn. I do a lot of video when it comes to houses that we flip, but no drones as yet, the cost wouldn't be warranted, based on the price range, but can see it with more expensive homes.

Rob.  That makes a lot of sense.

William.  Agreed.  Agreed.  That said, I would never discourage a risk taker.

VB.  Let us know about it.

Joe.  I'm on the fence.

Fred.  Everyone likes it, but I don't know the value yet except in marketing the agent, not the house.

Lenn, I may be using drones to shoot some videos of some of the more popular neighborhoods in our area. It's not something you see agents doing here.
