Motivational Monday: Never Assume

Motivational Monday: Never Assume

When I was studying to become a Feng Shui Consultant back in the early 2000's, one of the earliest lessons I learned from my mother (Carole Provenzale) and my mentors, was to never assume a consultation was going to be easy or challenging. You simply stepped into each session with an open mind and heart, actively listening to the words, taking notice of their body gestures and eye movements while also observing their environment with a none judgmental mindset.

If we arrived to every consultation with the preconception of this person is x,y, z, it would block the very essence of the healing process. This is a tidbit of insight for everyday encounters and interactions.

Laura- I love this one today!  Someone told me something very similar to this and I try to remind myself of this all of the time.  Great each situation with an open mind.

Laura,  This is true and fitting for all aspects of life. When we are willing to lay down our judgment we will see more, learn more, be more ... and create more.

To assume is to make room for major mistakes.  WE all know when we assume what happens.

Hi Laura Cerrano ,  I have assumed things in the past and ended up with my foot in my mouth.

Very nice Laura, the art of the consultation does take a lot of reading, listening and being open to all.

Laura, I believe in any profession when you start assuming you could go down the wrong path from the beginning.

Laura that is how I approach every meeting - open to listening and observing what they're saying in all ways. Assuming can cloud the sky and fast.

That is like listing appointments as well.  Never assume you are going to get the listings and go in with the paperwork.  Prepare, do your homework and earn it.

Good advise Laura. I know there isn't a day you don't miss your mom. I also learned this lesson about not assuming anything when I worked with Special Ed children. Assumption is a dangerous thing. Never assume anything!

I came here from Kathy's Sunday post and I feel our two selected posts are similar.  Mine about making assumptions about a person based on what they do for a living is very close to your never assume theory :)   Yours puts the stamp of approval on my theory, LOL.
