Animals of the MLS

We've had a lot of dogs being featured in Animals of the MLS lately but this week brings us quite possibly the cutest featured friend so far. Who doesn't like a good nap in the middle of the afternoon? Most likely our cuddly kitty is just sticking to what is their daily routine when all of the sudden a stranger starts taking pictures! This house cat is way too exhausted from chasing it's cat toys around all morning to even think about getting up from it's favorite spot. Curiosity is not going to kill this cat! I bet the agent was able to freely move about the entire house unabated as slumber was the better option on this particular day.

Aside from the curled up cat on the bed the photo itself isn't too bad. The agent did a nice job of opening up the windows to let in all the natural light of the room which makes it feel inviting and highlights the high ceilings well. The room itself is clean and put together. A wide angle lens would have done a lot to better showcase the size of the bedroom because this photo makes it appear small and cramped.

I'd be willing to bet there were plenty of warnings on this listing about not letting the cat out when showing the home but by the looks of things I don't think that was much of an issue. This guy doesn't seem too interested in budging for anyone!

Hey, how'd my cat get in that photo.  you'd think my cat NEVER gets of the bed.

Good morning Nicole.  I agree on both counts.  Using a wide lens would have been a better idea and the cat isn't moving for anyone..

Hi Nicole.  I often wonder what the agent is thinking when they take pictures?  Or are they thinking?

Several years ago, I visited the Hemmingway House in Key West, Florida.  I was taken by the number of six toed cats that "owned" the house.  I especially thought it was cool that that they were able to sleep on the beds, etc.

Animals in MLS pictures often grab the attention of the viewer, when the focus should be on the house.  But, it's difficult to not think some of them are pretty darn cute.

Good morning Nicole. I assume anything there is a cat or dog in an MLS photo, it is the remind other agents that there is a pet in the home?

Nicole, this photo does not show off this room in the best light, as it does look small and cramped.    Kitty looks very comfy!

Nina - This cat is only interested in one thing and that's snoozing!

Mike - I bet that cat would move pretty fast if that were to happen!

Sam - Nothing like a little power nap in the afternoon.

Joni - Some cats and dogs really can get along.

Debbie - I bet if I could find the MLS listing that would be very close to what was written.

George - That bed does look very inviting!

Endre - Well we can probably assume someone with cat allergies probably didn't.

Chris Ann - I like you're thinking! Although I have met a few cats in my day who didn't respond to the laser pointer. They are few and far between though.

Roger - Most cats would have freaked out and ran but not this guy!

Troy - Aside from a catastrophic event I don't think anything could get that cat to cut it's nap short.

Alexandra - I can't remember if I've ever personally done an open house with a cat present. I would be so stressed that it would escape.

Sharon L - It was completely in it's element and totally comfortable.

Sharon T - I also would have done my best to edit the cat out.

William - This guy was front and center for all to see there was an animal living there.

Bob - Including me! I'm allergic to almost every animal on the planet!

Kathleen - Ha! You are too funny!

Evelyn - If they were comfortable enough not to freak out when the agent came in to the room then chances are they would have let the agent move them.

Larry - Now you're talking! I need one of those days.

Tammy - Our cat Butters loves to roam outside too much to be confined to the indoors all day.

James - The agent might have been able to lure them with a little cat nip!

Conrad - I'm sure there was something that could have been done to make sure they got a picture without the cat I'm just guessing they didn't care.

Myrl - The way this one is so tightly curled up is pretty adorable.

Joe - That is often the case. Many people have allergies so it can be a warning to them.

Joan - For all we know that could have actually been a very spacious room but you'd never know by the photo.

I had a client this year who refused to enter any house with a cat, and she knew the minute we opened up the door. It was weird.  I didn't think the houses smelled at all, but she was repulsed instantly. ( No, she's not allergic) I don't mind them as long as the litter boxes are properly cared for...

Debb - But when the litter boxes are not cared for...Look out! That smell will hit you like a brick wall!

Looks like are cat . . . . Sleeps about 20 hours a day on the bed.  But not good for an MLS photo.

Good luck and success.

VB - I wish we could all take a little afternoon nap to refresh us every day! Thanks so much for the feature! I love being a part of Friends At ActiveRain!

Lou - Mine too. Our cat Butters sleeps in her cat box darn near all day. She'll wake up a few times to let us know it's feeding time. Then after that it's time to take care of a little grooming, and back to sleep she goes.

Nicole, like Debb Janes I had a client who would not go in or buy a house if a cat was in it. My client actually passed on the perfect house for her because the sellers had a cat...my client also was not allergic.

Nick - How funny! I can understand the allergies but not seeing a home simply because there was a cat there is a little strange. But hey, to each their own. Some people have a legitimate fear of cats.
