Today, I read Joe Petrowsky's blog about the passing of Eric Boucher.
I did not visit Active Rain yesterday and the news about this tragedy dampened my mood. I would not hide my grief over this incident because Eric and I had this friendly connection and competition which transpired conspicuously on this platform, Active Rain.
Back in 2014, Eric was persistently blogging to take my #5 ranking at that time. He made known of his mission through his email to me. His message pushed me into blogging tenaciously as I saw his points spiked up.
He even questioned a blog I posted which was composed only of 5 paragraphs. His comment made me chuckle like a naughty child.
I noticed Eric's presence on Active Rain the very first time when he mentioned my name and my listing in his blog "Under Contract in 5 Days."
Then when our competition for the number 5 spot started, he wrote this blog , See what a great sport Maria is. It was preceded by his posting "I am gunnin' for your spot Maria."
Behind the competition scene, Eric and I had planned to meet for coffee. Both of us had conflicting schedules that whenever one of us had the window of free time to meet, the other one would not be available. But most of the time, it was me who could not make it.
Eric had been my active social media supporter. He was one of the only two persons who commented on my personal blog.
It was with deep sorrow and grieving heart as I went back to my site to re-read his comments. It was with piercing soul when I retrieved the blogs he wrote to recollect that special chapter we shared, albeit short.
There are so many things to regret in life. However, we can't dwell on them and on things we can't change. But as sure as I am writing this, I regret not having that moment when I had been given the opportunity to connect with him personally.
Eric, today, I am not ashamed to say, "You made me cry." Rest in peace my friend. My heart goes out to his young kids.
We can't live with regrets but it is okay to have them...temporarily.
Life is precious. The people and things that surround us are all wondrous, wondrous creations. Appreciate and Acknowledge their existence. Don't just let them slip away.
