ND Bird Hunting 1941

Bird Hunting 1941 in ND

Here is what I notice on this vintage picture: #1) The date with the snow on the ground and yet there are leaves on the bushes. That is unusual even for North Dakota. #2) Where are these guys hunting, notice the bird house in the upper right hand side of the picture?

Well, they got their bird(s) for Thanksgiving.

Hi Bob "RealMan" Timm

Great vintage picture. I think that in the 40's people in the Northern US accepted bird hunting as a sport and also something to bring home and cook for the family. Now, the attitudes have changed but mainly about big game. Love this photo and reminds me of my dad on a hunting trip.

Kristin Hamilton CA Realtor hunting is very big here especially waterfowl and deer. I myself have not been hunting for about 40 years.

It will be goose for dinner.  It is an early snow even for N. D.

I'm glad winter is holding off this year William Feela but those early snows do keep the birds flying low.

There's nothing like those old vintage photos providing a glimpse into our past, and the activities we were involved with.

Myrl Jeffcoat I love looking at old photos of people and buildings. It makes it so easy to "put yourself there" and just feel history.

Good morning Bob,

They are awfully big Marlins!

The pictures of the days past and then trying to figure out who they are.

Make yourself a great day.

Thanks Raymond E. Camp even though I have no idea who those guys were it does remind me of my father who claimed he was a great hunter. I do remember as a kid my dad could shoot rats at the dump with his pistol faster than I could spot the rats but their carcases were always there.

Bob, fun picture!  Looks like the birds they caught were a little too big for that bird house.

Patricia Kennedy now that would be sporting wouldn't it... blasting them as they came home to roost.
