What Do You Want ActiveRain to Do For You?
When first discovering ActiveRain and then making the commitment to join the community, many people just jump right in without a goal. Members join because it seems like such a wonderful community (and it is) and they want to be a part of it. But aside from being a wonderful community, it would behoove new members to consider what it is they want to accomplish when they join. It doesn't have to be so narrowly focused that they miss out on many of the other benefits of ActiveRain, but it might be wise to understand your purpose. After all, you are a business person and anyone in business surely has concrete plans about what they want for their business and how they are going to achieve their goals.
Examples of why one might join ActiveRain:
- Learn: This is extremely pivotal particular if you are a new agent. There are times when I think AR should replace NAR as the premiere choice for real estate education. Some of the sharpest minds in real estate are members of this network. Their years of knowledge is invaluable. You can't put a price on that kind of knowledge and they give it away for FREE.
- Networking & Referrals: There are situations where we simply can't service everyone and you may need to refer a customer or client to another industry pro. Our first choice would be within our own franchises across the country, but even then we start with a search of franchise agents, we would likely start right here first. AR gives you the absolute best opportunities to get to know the philosophies and best (or worse) practices (Did I get that right Marte Cliff?) of those that you are considering as a referral source. AR removes some of the mystery of selecting a referral source.
- Gaining new business: Are you here to increase your visibility in order to gain new clients. For the vast majority of us, that's the real goal, but not for everyone and that's ok too. To each his own. Blogging regularly on Active Rain increasing your chances of being found on the Internet when people are doing an Internet search for services that you provide. The more you blog, learn how to blog and practice what you learn, the better your chances of increasing your exposure. But the one TRUE way to go this and gain new business is to:
- Give the home buying and selling public valuable information they can use when making the decision to buy or sell a home. I believe that's what AR had in mind when they created this beast of platform so you may as well take full advantage of it.
But first you have to discover your own purpose.
