Prior to last night the last concert I went to was in the early 70's. It was the last concert because it stunk so bad (as a show) that I didn't want to ever be ripped off again. Last night all I could think of was "I'm sure glad I did not pay for these tickets".
My Bride and I attended what was billed as "The Gospel of Elvis and the Blackwood Quartet." The Blackwood Quartet was hyped as Bill Gather saying the Blackwood Quartet was the most well know Gospel group of all time and "Danny Elvis Wagnor" sings Elvis's favorite Gospel music. How wrong could you go with that?
WAY WRONG!!!
First song the Blackwood Quartet sang was "Elvira", fun but not Gospel. Then came the equipment glitches. The group did their best to sing through them but for much of their part the microphones and background music were either out completely or at best very spotty.
Before Danny Elvis Wagner came on there was an hour or so intermission while they worked on the equipment. 1st time I've ever seen 70 year old Roadies working the equipment and they were none to fast.
Danny came on and lead off with about 8 Elvis Rock and Roll songs. Nothing proclaims Jesus like "You Ain't Nothing But A Hound Dog" although plenty of us were saying "Oh Jesus" at how bad of an impersonator he was.
We, like about 20% of the crowd, decided we had enough well before it was over. Well it was about 50 years since my last concert.... maybe in another 50.
