Short term closings... Lock the improvement . Thursday, mortgage rates prices improved 0.29 point. This was enough to improve mortgage rates or fees. The market experienced high volatility. - 30-year fixed-rate mortgage (FRM) averaged 3.48 percent with an average 0.6 point for the week ending September 22, 2016, down from last week when it averaged 3.50 percent. A year ago at this time, the 30-year FRM averaged 3.86 percent.
