"What is a firefighter?

He's the guy next door...

He's a guy like you and me with warts and worries

and unfulfilled dreams. Yet he stands taller than most of us.

He's a fireman...

A fireman is at once the most fortunate and the least

fortunate of men. He's a man who saves lives

because he has seen too much death. He's a gentle man

because he has seen the awesome power of violence

out of control He's responsive to a child's laughter

because his arms have held too many small bodies

that will never laugh again...

He doesn't preach the brotherhood of man.

He lives it.

Endre Barath, Jr. - thank you. At times like this, it's hard to find the right words or be uplifting to someone who will suffer.

Thank God for Fire Fighters. We can never complain about what we do.

Firefighters are more likely to suffer with cancer. They deserve our support.

Firefighters and Cancer, an article in The Washington Post. This will be another good blog topic for you.

Fires are so scary, Patricia. I never used to think about fire fighters all that much until 9/11... their heroism on that day taught me never to take their bravery for granted.

Hi Patricia Feager - What a wonderful tribute to our heroes - all firefighters.

As you probably know 4 years ago we lost 19 Granite Mountain Hotshots out of Prescott AZ in the Yarnell Fire about an hour from Sedona. We still talk about this terrible tragedy.  There will be a movie out in fall "Granite Mountain". It will star my neice's boyfriend, Miles Teller. He will play the lone survivor from the hot shots.

All - One firefighter was injured but conditions are presently unknown. The fire appears to have been started at the auto shop and a wood pallet supplier. Flames were intense but firefighters stayed and did their duty to ensure public safety.

Sheri Sperry - MCNE® - I didn't know anything about the loss of 19 Granite Mountain Hotshots out of Prescott, AZ near Sedona. That sounds horrible! A tragedy like that, though tragic is something people who were involved or lived near-by never forget.

Congratulations to Miles Teller who will star in the leading role. When you say his character is the lone survivor, shivers run down my spine! Your niece and the family must be very proud of him and I will definitely wait for the movie to be released.
