It's Teacher Appreciation Week- Show The Educators In Your Life Thanks by Silicon Valley REALTOR Michelle Carr Crowe
For a good portion of us on here, we are no longer in school ourselves so something like Teacher Appreciation Week can go unnoticed. However, just because you're not in school, doesn't mean there isn't a Teacher in your life to show some appreciation towards. To those who have children, whether you are their parent or gaurdian, ask them which of their Teachers they want to give a thank you to. It certainly doesn't have to be the teacher they have now, or an educator from school. There are teachers that both children and adults have, mainly because we are (or should be) always learning. More often than not, teaching is a thankless job but rewarding in its own unique way.
My eldest daughter is a co-director at a Daycare for kids 4 years old and younger, but she started there as a teacher. She worked for many years to further educate herself once she decided she wanted to study in Early Childhood Development. Most days she comes home tired after waking up at 6:00 AM and working until the late afternoon. She is a person who likes to sleep, so you can imagine the struggle that comes with having such an early morning each day. Still, she does it five days a week all throughout the year (her Daycare doesn't take summer or lengthy holiday breaks). She does it out of love for what she does, out of care for the children she helps teach and grow, and because most importantly, it's what she wants to do.
Even though my daughter is drained each day, she still has lots of love in her heart for the kids who are still too young to tell her thank you themselves. And even when kids learn how to say thank you, it doesn't mean it's always said. That is why it is important to take the time and effort to show the Teachers out there that what they do is as important to us as it is to them.
While today is the offical Teacher Appreciation Day, most people consider it to be more of a Teacher Appreciation Week. So if you forgot to give thanks via a card, a conversation, a gift, or something else today, you can do it tomorrow. Don't worry, you're not being graded on your appreciation!
