In Part 1, we discussed the Pantone (PMS) Brand Color System. The next step is to convert these colors to their R G B values for our clients. RGB stands for Red, Green and Blue. This is another one of those details that is of utmost importance, when it comes to standing out from your competition. It is important to be precise and accurate on your website as well as on your printed materials. We are in agreement with Jim Collins who said, “good is the enemy of great”.
Since the majority of screens are shiny and bright, we use the Pantone colors, which are labeled with a “C”, which means they represent the colors when printed on coated stock. To convert Pantone 158 C to Red, Green and Blue in the proper proportion for a computer screen, we use an online conversion web site.
There are many good sites in the web universe, and for this post, we are using label partners.com To reproduce 158 C (as seen in the photo above) one would use this combination of R 232 G119 B 334, these are often stated in percentages also.
HEX stands for Hexadecimal notation, is another way to translate PMS into computer language such as HTML, CSS, SVG, etc. These same sites will give you the HEX number with is a six digit number. In HEX Pantone color 158C is known as #E875111. Your web developer can convert your brand colors using these numbers, and every color of your marketing presentation will be perfectly matched.
When a potential seller or buyer sees your website, your signs, your business card, and your marketing materials, they will note either subliminally or consciously that your presentation is impeccable in each and every way. First impressions are of paramount importance, if your quest is market leadership in your market.
