What Really Happens When a Realtor Answers Her Phone

By
Real Estate Agent with Elizabeth Anne Weintraub, Broker DRE #00697006

This Sacramento Realtor just goes with the flow. Because you never know what will happen when your phone rings. It could be opportunity. I realize most people view their cell ringing as an inconvenience. It's almost an intrusion, to be forced to listen to another person's voice. They much prefer text messages.

Plus, there is that hassle of having to press the voicemail button to hear the message. The start arrow doesn't always work. Or you can't hear the message, or it wasn't transcribed properly. So I know people ignore voicemail messages, too.

You can read more with real life examples of the types of daily phone calls I face in my personal blog today at this link: Sacramento Realtors Who Answer the Phone.

I was in an educational session yesterday and the motivational speaker said young millennials are starting to answer their phones. I thought that was encouraging! Perhaps, to some it's new idea!

Obviously, you know how success can follow when agents pick up their phone and I would add be chipper and happy when you say hello! I enjoyed your post today!!!

Patricia Feager I am super chipper when I answer the phone at 7 AM. Or when I call somebody at 6 AM because they called me the night before at 11 PM. Who calls people at 11 PM?

Good morning, Elizabeth -- whenever possible I answer -- yes there are valid reasons when I don't/can't/won't/shouldn't answer.   I must say "Fun With Telemarketers"  can be highly entertaining especially when I put the call on speakerphone.

Elizabeth, I am old school, if I am not on the phone or not in the middle of a meeting rest assured I answer my phone, to me the phone translates to business which in turn translates to money...Endre

HI Elizabeth... I have hours when I don't pick up my phone, but those are just part of my work day schedule. During what I deem to be my work schedule, I always pick up my phone unless I'm already on another call or with another client.

Good morning, Elizabeth: First, let me say that I woke up to thunder and lightning followed by a quick rainstorm. My feeling? Good, I don't have to water the yard, always a great way to start the day. Second, phone calls. Love to talk to clients or would-be clients on the phone. Anytime. Telemarketers? First, I make sure they are. I always ask what their company name is right after their chirpy "How are you today". Why? Because the odd would-be clients start their conversation out that way as well and I don't want to lose them. By the way, for some reason my computer won't let me link off to your website, this has been a problem for some time. Am using a hot spot, so maybe not fast enough speed? It always times out. It says, "the connection to the server was reset while loading". I have the same problem when I go directly to www.elizabethweintraub.com

Elizabeth, I do prefer to answer my phone, unless it says SCAM LIKELY.  Then I let it keep ringing.  They never leave a message.

Hella M. Rothwell, Broker/Realtor® Sometimes the server runs slowly for some odd reason but if you can't access it, I'd say it's due to a firewall or a VPN. For example, I have to turn off my VPN to get into WordPress.

Joan Cox When I spot "scam likely" I not only do not answer my phone but I reject the call and then block the sender.
