Hana Maui - 31 acres finds a new owner right next door

It's been a long and interesting process to sell a large parcel of wooded land in Hana Maui.  For most people, this is a remote area, and not a place that is normally thought of when buying property on Maui.  But to those who live in Hana, it's home, and nowhere else on earth compares to the natural beauty and lifestyle of this tropical community by the sea.

Everything is ready for closing day on Monday:

  • all documents are signed by buyer and seller
  • loan funds are in place
  • the property is ready to go
  • nothing left to do but record the deed and documents

Here in Hawaii a sale is not complete until the documents are recorded at the Bureau of Conveyances in Honolulu, on Oahu.  This means that real estate transactions on the neighbor islands have to physically send the paperwork to Oahu as the final step of the process.  All signing, funding, and other contingencies need to be completed days ahead of this closing date, which can be a little confusing for buyers who come from other markets.

The buyer is from Hana so everyone is on the same page.  After a couple of attempts with buyers from off-island, it became clear that a Hana buyer would be the best match.  This way, there's a better appreciation of the subtle quirks that can arise, and less confusion.  Who understands the lay of the land and the neighborhood better than a neighbor?  Yes, a neighbor stepped up to the plate and made the bold move.  Sellers agreed that it was good fit.  Buyer paid full price and made no demands.  SOLD.  It was a win-win situation.  I wish everyone the best on the next chapter of this story.

I'm happy to close the book on this sale, though it's been fun to explore the 31 acres and hear so much of the history relating to this parcel and family.  There's a lot to love about Hana Maui.  Search for Hana homes and land for sale here.
