Cosmos flowers pictured above are the last of the summer annuals.  There are 22 species of cosmos, and only one is a perennial.  It is the chocolate cosmos, and it considered one the rarest flowers in the world.  It is dark red with velvety petals, and it is said to have a dark chocolate fragrance.

Coreopsis is a wildflower native to North America and Central Asia.  It is a perennial, and there are 12 varieties.  They are also known as "tickseed".  They attract butterflies and are deer resistant.

Love cosmos. They are very easy to grow. Hadn't heard about the chocolate variety. Their fragrance must be wonderful. I like the colors of those coreopsis. Never had them in my garden. Happy Weds.

They must be bitter and not a pleasant fragrance much like mums repel insects in a garden. They are very beautiful though.
