Someone is sitting in the shade today

because someone planted a tree

long ago --- Warren Buffett

Today is a reminder that Daylight Saving time ends November 5th. Remember, clocks move back 1 hour. While in Eureka Springs, I was reminded about good use of time. It was here on this trail I started out with one primary objective - hike to the Crescent Hotel to get a good breakfast. But when the light stream cut through the trees, I suddenly felt different. In other words, my thoughts, the sights, and the smells that occurred changed my perception. For this reason, I simply added a heart flare using Ribbet on my photograph to give you a sense of what I was experiencing. Nothing else was changed, except adding my name. My name...

While admiring the trees in the forest, I thought a lot about all the different people and animals that contributed to the growth of a forest. I needed to see this because after leaving the devastation caused by forest fires in Glacier National Park in late September, I began to appreciate what was right in front of me and not what was gone. With every step I took, I added depth to my insights of what lies ahead. It was at this moment when I approached the light, I just knew. I just knew...

One of the hardest aspects of being a business owner is what public persona sets up. It may start out simple but there are always higher expectations. I began to realize, I am merely an instrument to those who achieve and succeed in their quest for success. Someone may be sitting in the tree of their backyard now, swimming in their pool, or in the comforts of their home because someone had an Agent and the support of the Real Estate community to help them get to where they are today. Where they are today...

I also thought a lot about my business and what an impact people in the Real Estate Industry has on our environment. Even though, we may feel like we are putting out fires, the reality is, we are builders of a community. When passion burns, there is commitment from the support of the Real Estate community. Passion ignites the fuel to get results. Get results...

Time changes. Back and forth time changes. People commute daily. The daily commute is a journey. If it wasn't for the people that come into my life, the places I go, the things I do, or the decisions I make, I wouldn't be who I am today. Who am I today...

What a fabulous reflection, so well written and thought provoking. I also loved the sentence Alexandra refers to...

You practiced a form of Shinrin-yoku and we are the recipients of your positive experience. D

Since I don't know anything about Shinrin-yoku, I'll have to investigate and research its findings. It sounds like something I should know!

Living the Branson Lake Life

I had the same experience while visiting the devastation of fires in Yellowstone National Park in the 90's.

My focus on what was gone, changed with what was new.

That is: new life and new beginnings. I learned that 250 years of old growth trees, dead timber on the ground was a feeding ground for beetles that destroyed trees and of course, FIRE.

Also it takes a very hot temperature for the cones to pop open and spray their seeds. So what I saw was all the little seedlings everywhere! When I retured seven years later, it was a beautiful green growth of  trees everywhere!

Our businesses and our lives take on the same path. We must rejuvenate: plant seeds in our community, provide nourishment (information and service) to our clients to continue to succeed.

Love your post!!!

faye schubert - Your comment was the most meaningful one I received because it answered so many questions that I was struggling with. I really love Glacier National Park in Montana. I went there 3 years in a row. This year, was different because of the wildfires. But I did meet an old man down by the river. He either saw or felt my sadness because he said to me, "Don't look at what was, look at what will be." Then he pointed out new trees and seedlings from fires in 2012 across the river that I couldn't see, because all I was looking at was charred forest and burnt trees. Between that old man and you today, I've learned some very valuable lessons. Oh, how I wish I could give you a gold star as a feature for inspiring me today.  In conclusion, I really love how you tied it into our business.

Thank you!

Patricia

Sharon Tara - You must know what I needed - reassurance that I matter too and that members of ActiveRain, like yourself appreciates my writing and willingness to share what I perceive is important for all. Yes!!! It's true, we are all sowing seeds. And now, I know, that even if some people don't care about what I write, others that matter, like you do.

Thank you, Sharon.

Margaret Rome, Baltimore Maryland - I don't think you're alone. After spending so much time walking and driving through detours through Glacier National Park, seeing the destruction, smelling smoke, seeing fire, and leaving my own trail of tears; then enjoying myself a few weeks later while being in Arkansas, hiking trails and enjoying the fall leaves, I shed more tears. But this time tears of joy as I began to appreciate what I have taken for granted too. People forget, forest trees are one of our great natural resources.

Have an inspiring day.
