Professionalism + Responsibility + Respect = ActiveRain Community
That - in my mind - is the short equation summing up the guidelines for the ActiveRain Community.
These and some additional components and explanations make up the ActiveRain guidelines that you can read in its entirety by clicking on the cloud.
Every family, community, or group of people has rules to live by. Sometimes, they are informal and unspoken, other times they are more formalized and in written form. The larger a group, the more formal guidelines tend to be.
ActiveRain formulated its guidelines or rules to live by so that every member will feel welcome, included, respected, and a valuable part of the community.
Of course, it happens even in the best of families that sometimes things get out of hand during a heated exchange and a member forgets their good manners.
Regrettably, these things don't happen in a small group enviroment but in a very public place with a few hundred thousand members on ActiveRain alone not to mention an online exposure that potentially exposes every post to the entire world.
The values expressed in the guidelines serve as reminders that ActiveRain is a site that is available and open to the public.
Professionalism and respect are two core values to remember even when we may disagree on a subject.
And being a member of the ActiveRain family carries with it the responsiblity to abide by its rules.
Throw in a few other industry-related principles such as fair housing laws, and general legal concepts dealing with copyrights, solicitations, and discriminative behaviors, and you have guidelines that are made to protect members and public alike.
As a final point, ActiveRain encourages its members to freely exchange ideas and knowledge and to have fun while doing it.
Whether your are new to ActiveRain or have been here for a while, I'm sure you've already discovered the fun side of ActiveRain even without having to refer to the community guidelines!
