Word Full Wednesday: Quincy Meets The Great Blue Heron!

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Napa Consultants DRE00893924

Yesterday morning, when we woke up and looked outside our window, we notice a blue heron sitting on the fencing of the creek.  We both stood and watched him for a while and marveled at the beauty of this creature.

After breakfast, Ron took Quincy for his morning walk.  The bird had moved into the creek bed.  Quincy watched him for quite a while until it took off towards the salt marshes behind our home!

There is never a dull moment around here.  We are so fortunate to have all these encounters with nature so near to our home!

Happy Wednesday!

Joe Pryor  Quincy is well fed.  And I don't think he would go after the bird.  He does like big dogs like Great Danes.  A

Alexandra loved the picture and clearly the interaction of Quincy with the Blue Heron, did he make the usual cat noises when they see a bird?:))Endre

Morning A.

Looks like if Quincy wasn't on the leash, and if there had been no fence, he would be having a Heron for lunch

Good morning, Ron and Alexandra Seigel (A)... the only wildlife I've ever seen is groups of wild turkeys.... say one red fox once in a new subdivision.... I think it lost its home!!

I'm guessing that's the biggest bird Sir Quincy has met. Love the photo and the nature that surrounds you.

There is a lake up the street in our subdivision and a heron visits from time to time. We have deer tracks across our backyard and I am always chsing the squirrels adn chipmunks out of my potted flowers. They uproot my geraniums, daisies, and dahlias. If it wasn't for that, I'd love having them visit.

Curious Quincy had the pleasure of seeing something he'd never seen before - how exciting!

I love the shot and I'm sure he enjoyed watching the Blue Heron. We have a Blue Heron Rookery nearby and I absolutely love watching them - they're beautiful birds!

Debe Maxwell, CRS I did not know about Heron Rookery.  We have a seal rookery in Carpinteria, where volunteers watch the seals during baby time 24/7 from above the bluffs and the beach on both sides are closed then.  They have their own nature made lagoon.  A

Yes and they are so interesting to watch, Alexandra. Residents who live near the park know not to leave their Koi ponds un-netted though! The Blue Herons will eat every one of the Koi - you can't turn your back on them!

Here's a link to that particular Rookery; we have a second one at the lake, a bit farther away. While construction was taking place on the Greenway, many of our 'families' left this one and headed to the lake. They're finally coming back to our area and we couldn't be happier!

Nick,

They are a fascinating bird, and they like their fish, so that is why they turn up all over.  We have egrets also, and I love their bright yellow feet.  Thank you for your wonderful pictures.  A
