Each year on the fourth Sunday in July, runners from across the country and all around the globe return to sunny California to compete in the race starting in Santa Cruz and ending in Capitola. The first run dates back to 1973 by a group of locals and has now become an annual tradition in Northern California history.
Both runners and spectators have the opportunity to enjoy the beach scenery, as well as try great food and listen to energetic music. This event tremendously helps local businesses, giving back millions of dollars to the Santa Cruz economy. The Wharf to Wharf Race has contributed over five million dollars to Santa Cruz County youth sports programs and the running community.
