Grandview Hills is a quiet, secluded, relatively small community tucked back off Hwy 620 on Wilson Parke Blvd around the corner from Hwy 2222. It’s close to Lake Travis and many homes located in the community enjoy views of Lake Travis and the hill country. The community was first known as “The Parke” and was established in the 1980’s. The estate section is now completed. Prices in the community range from $400,000 - $1.5Million.
There are 2 parks in the community “Muir Parke” and “Waterton Parke” that offer family, friendly recreation. Waterton Parke also provides a community swimming pool (some newer sections have to pay an additional fee to use the pool) and there are many nature trails to enjoy.
The property tax rate is 2.5339 and zip code is 78726. Grandview Hills falls in the City of Austin.
The community began with the name “The Parke” and was later changed to “Grandview Hills.” Chaos ensued for consumers and Real Estate agents searching for Grandview Hills for 2 main reasons:
1.Earlier built homes legal description was labeled “The Parke” and these properties would not come up in searches.
2.Which MLS area did this community fall in? There were often three different areas (RN, NW and CL) being used by agents when listing a property in Grandview Hills in the MLS, thus causing properties not appearing in regular searches (some missing this little gem all together). The result: sales were slow in this community because of lack of consistency on how to find these homes when there were two community names!
After many complaints to our MLS the problem was resolved. Now upon searching for Grandview Hills both names pop up and only one area RN (River North) is allowed to be used to identify the area. It just shows that bringing issues to the MLS board does pay off. They have a vested interest to solve problems as they want all properties to be located.
The community residents children attend and there is an excellent elementary Grandview Hills Elementary located off Wilson Parke Blvd for resident’s children to attend. Four Points Middle School and Vandegrift High School are the schools this community feeds into and are conveniently located close by.
Concordia University has a campus close by as well as great shopping, medical facilities, restaurants, employers and Lake Travis is 5 minutes away!
I’ve lived in NW Austin since 1981. I’ve been privy to watch and be a part of many communities develop as well as in RN and CL. Knowing the builders and history has given me insight to how the neighborhoods were established. I’ve listed and sold many properties in these various subdivisions and was chosen to serve on many focus boards giving feed back to developers on communities they were going to invest in.
