Thankful for the Essential Oils
this is an entry to the contest Debbie Reynolds is hosting, Thanksgiving Challenge.
The sense of smell is probably one of the most underappreciated senses we have. Although, there are times where I wish I didn’t have such strong sense of smell..ohh..those stinky homes.
Some spray that flowery stuff to mask the bad odors but honestly, it does more harm than good. First and foremost, it’s nothing more than chemicals sprayed in the air we breathe.
Before I started using essential oils, I would just simmer orange peel and cinnamon or apples and cinnamon on the stove, the smell is just delicious but that’s about it, this just spreads a nice aroma with no added benefits.
In 2005, I started using essential oils for different reasons. I have a book that explains each and every one of the oils and their benefits. I use only therapeutic grade essential oils by diffusing them in my home and car as well as on my body.
My favorite this time of the year is Orange, Cinnamon Bark, and Clove. If you have essential oils, I would highly recommend diffusing this blend.
Instead of taking medication, I prefer to use oils. Frankincense is my favorite, go to oil. The benefits are plenty. It helps boost the immune system, reduces stress, kills harmful germs and bacteria, improves memory. I diffuse it several times a day in my home and rub it on my wrists as well as under my feet, inhale it by rubbing a couple of drops in my hands twice a day, morning and before I go to sleep.
Use of essential oils dates back to 3000-2500 B.C. The ancient Egyptians used essential oils for medicinal benefits, beauty purposes, religious ceremonies, spiritual enhancements. The doctors used herbs and plant-based oils for medicinal purposes. If it worked then, why wouldn’t work today? Human bodies didn’t change much but our environment has..in a HUGE way.
So, why not do the best we can to keep our homes clean?
You can use essential oils to make all your cleaning products. I use lemon and thieves mixed with water and vinegar. This is the simplest one anyone can make. If you wish to take it a bit further, you can make your own soaps and candles..give it a try, I promise, you will LOVE it.
