A Mourning Dove Tree House

Morning Doves in tree in Carlsbad

Mourning Doves are pretty common in our yard, with sometimes as many as 7 or 8 on the fence and in the feeders at one time.

Once the two trees at the end of our street lost the rest of their leaves this winter I discovered that this is where the neighborhood doves ALL hang out. I finally stopped to grab a photo earlier this week, but one day noticed at least 30 of them in one tree alone. Can't say a day has passed when leaving or coming home when I don't see a bunch of them.

Hi Jeff,  This looks like a great mourning dove house.  They seem to enjoy your area there.

Jeff Dowler, CRS - I have a listing that hasn't sold yet. It also has a Mourning Dove Tree House and until now, didn't know what type of tree it was until you mentioned it.

Those big birds really catch your eye when the leaves are gone! Nice capture!

Joe Pryor  - they tend to like the wires here, too, along with the fences.

Francine Viola  They are interesting birds to watch, but rather skittish.  We've had a couple nesting in some small palm trees in our yard which was fun to see.

They seem to bit rather communal, like the crows, which was news to me. Or maybe they just all like these particular trees!

Kathy Streib and Endre Barath, Jr.  - seems like you were both on the save wavelength. Who wouldn't think of that movie if they've seen it!

It's definitely a popular area with them Bob Crane  Wish I had taken the photo when the tree was really full. It reminded me of the trees we see filled with crows at times. Doves are, thankfully, quieter.

That's so true Michael Jacobs  I'm sure I miss so many things because I am focused on something else and not just watching to see what I see!

It is a newer home, and not as many trees.  Have not seen any.

Jeff Dowler, CRS - I didn't mean to sound like I thought the actual name of the tree was the Mourning Dove Tree House but I can see now how you probably thought that's what I meant. Sorry... I made a bad choice of words.
