Brookhaven is a small row house community in the Torresdale community. When you think of a row house you think small. These houses are far from small. The average size is approx 1386 sq ' not including the lower level. We should really refer to them as townhouses.
I remember having a young couple out looking at homes. I told them what I believe to be true. When you find the right house you will know. You will get that feeling when you walk in. It may not have everything you thought you wanted. You will get a feeling inside. It will feel like home. A feeling I can live here. It will be a warm feeling inside you will just know.
The man said to me on the third time out looking "Hannah when am I getting this feeling you told me about " I told him I understood how he felt as I didn't see anything special either Sure enough the next house we went into he turned to me and said " Hannah I got that feeling this is the one " It was a Brookwood row house and I could not believe our luck . It was perfect for them and the rest is history. It was their house.
If you know the section of Brookhaven at the end of each row is a duplex. They are wonderful investment properties. I knew two brothers that purchased one of these units. One brother lived in one unit the other brother in another. I also sold one of these to my neighbor who sold his single home and wanted to live in one unit and rent the other. My daughter also rented one of these units before she was married. I will write about these in another post when I do a report on multi-family units. I just wanted to make you aware that they were there.
