Dr Seuss Birthday March 2

Ted Talked

I don't know(but somehow I doubt)if Theodor Geisel was widely known as Ted.  But I feel "Ted" better known to most of as Dr Seuss in his words was expressing his love of life and living to me.  Not to everyone, mind you. Just me.  Dr. Seuss talked. To me.  The doctor and I were friends.

I read many of those books seemingly endlessly starting with One Fish, Two Fish.  I read and re-read those in my possession to myself and to anyone close enough to hear my voice.  I am amazed at the creativity of the man.    Anyway in honor of Dr Seuss' birthday today in 1914,  here are some of his words:

Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells.

Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living

Think left and think right and think low and think high.

Oh, the thinks you can think up if only you try!

From there to here, from here to there, funny things are everywhere!

Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple

Ponder on Dr Seuss.  Hmm I wonder.  Is that repetitive?

Morning Michael.

I can remember reading his books, wish I still had them. However, they are long gone.

I loved the Dr. Seuss books when I was a child, but when I was able to read them to my boy as he grew...it was magic. I love his books, I love them so, I love them from my head to toe!

Hi Michael Jacobs
The creativity of some people amazes me. Dr Seuss was certainly among those with amazing imaginations and I love the quotes.  Who could think thinks better than Dr. Seuss?

I've actually never read anything of Dr. Seuss, Michael. Maybe I should go and do so. Loved that first quote:

Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

James Dray - I don't know where my Dr Seuss books have gone but with a younger sister, a younger brother and three nieces/a nephew many of my childhood books and such have been likely "handed down" to many others.

Jeffrey DiMuria 321.223.6253 Waves Realty - I think yours' is a familiar story of first reading as a child and then reading to subsequent generations.

Michael, I love Dr. Seuss and saved a few of his books that I read as a child. Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happens is a favorite quote of mine - such a good one.

Michael Jacobs - Oh shucks! I knew Dr. Seuss' birthday was coming up and couldn't wait to write a special post in his honor. But last week was a painful blur, recovering from surgery.

As a kid, we had a library around the corner from where I lived. For me, it was a second home. I don't recall reading any Dr. Seuss books when I was very young but I distinctly enjoyed Hass Christian Anderson Fairy Tales. Then around 4th grade, I graduated to Nancy Drew Mystery books & the Hardy Boys. Plus, I really liked stories about witches, saints, and martyrs.  By 7th grade, I was fascinated with science books, nature and autobiographies. When I became a mother, I started reading Dr. Seuss books to them and the three of loved them!

Thanks for dedicating this post to Dr. Seuss!

Michael, Such a good person to ponder. I used to have a cleaning job and in some situations I imagined myself finishing up my work just in the nick of time much like the house clean up in the Cat in The Hat.

My bucket list still includes reading all of his books.

Oh my gosh, I loved reading Dr. Seuss to my boys and they also loved reading them to anyone and everyone who would listen! I loved his take on life and the many, many quotes that we share laughs about together, even as they are now young adults.

Thanks for making me smile today, Michael!
