Pondering The Subject Is Roses

And The Subject Was Roses

The other day arrived with the sound not of a gentle pitter-patter but somewhat more intense. Definitely not a light rain or just a drizzle.  In Southern California we have experienced more precipitation than usual and most of us are grateful for that.  The usual walk as dawn was breaking that day would  be postponed. In the scope of things to be concerned this really is not an issue. At least I didn't think so.

Some people are always grumbling because roses have thorns.

I am thankful that thorns have roses.

                                                                                                   Alphonse Karr

Later that day, the sun made its appearance and with flowers, plants and trees of all kinds once again in abundance.  And not just roses.  New buds and familiar fragrances are but a few of the things that make California life so enjoyable.

The photo in this post was taken by Michael Jacobs.  Not the other day because of some technical issues I was experiencing but it shows South Orange Grove Boulevard in Pasadena, CA.  Close your eyes and imagine.

James Dray - we are expected to get another visit this week.

Grant Schneider - we have been fortunate in that regard this year.

Brian England - it's an opportunity to stop and enjoy.

Sheila Anderson - not particularly lucky in that regard either but have enjoyed the efforts of others over the years

Lawrence "Larry" & Sheila Agranoff. Cell: 631-805-4400 - plans change, new opportunities present themselves.  Although the photo isn't from this week the beauty around Pasadena, Los Angeles and beyond is quite nice.

Michael Jacobs - You had me at roses! A zillion years ago I used to get wilted roses from a peddler on street corners from my spouse. After a period of time, I finally had to tell him, oh hell, buy me the bush and I'll be happier!

There sure are a lot of beautiful rose bushes at that Condo. There's always room for more roses and the bigger the bush and the greater the quantities the better!

There is a lot of rain in Flower Mound too. Today I noticed a single Gardenia that bloomed which was odd because it hasn't bloomed in years. It smelled delicious!

I hope you are taking the time to smell the roses and maybe Gardenias too!

Have a happy day ;)

Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP - I am not always so good at recognizing flowers, plants and trees nor their scents/fragrances so I tend not to specifically mention particulars.  Roses are a bit more famous than others so they are easier for me to correctly name (as a group at least).

Endre Barath, Jr. - sounds like a good plan.  Looking forward to the "show".

It makes me so happy to see California landscape benefiting from all the rain.  The white roses are just beautiful. They seem to light up the path.  Our roses will be blooming in about two or three weeks.

Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD - I was thinking of that a few weeks ago after one of our more frequent downstorms when the hills besides one of our freeways which are usually more brown were now green.  Yes, it's nice.

We got a lot of rain in  South Florida this week, and everywhere you go looks so damp, some flowers or plants feel blessed like that. I love all flowers of any kind, they bring some colors in some dull days. Good
