The Terminator makes a point ... do you control your future?

By

Interesting motivational point in the new Terminator movie.

This series is about the future coming to the past to prevent a person from affecting their future...

In the 'now', the characters in this movie see a potentially devastating future.

We also need to look at our potential futures... what are the possibilities?

Your future --if you follow a certain path, make a series of choices, decide one thing over another-- what will the outcome be?

Is your future going to be positive or negative?

Are you doing something to change a future that may not serve you well?

What you do now affects what will happen later.   What are your choices?

Are you doing what is necessary now to make your life better later?

You can change the future by doing something NOW...

conversely: if you do nothing NOW, the future that you fear may eventually materialize

I've always found it so interesting on how we can do one thing and it could change our entire future (and does). We make a decision to walk away from a certain person, for example. Or to make a career change. Or to take a different route home from work. Or whatever. Every single thing we do impacts the future.

It's the butterfly effect.  No doubt all action results in reaction.  To calculate the proper action is the thing! Thank you, Kat Palmiotti

Creating your future.  Who would think that such a thing was possible?  We just plod on in our own boxes and sometimes it's too late to see the end of our actions!  Thank you, Grant Schneider

I can look back to certain pivotal moments, a Life fork in the road where a different decision or outcome would lead to a profound change in my present day.

I work my dual life for the sake of a future that I know is not guaranteed.  Places to go, things to see, if that's what's meant to be.  Bill

I think many of us believe that chipping away towards a result is the best we can do.  I think decisions can be pivotal and we should 'Think big things"...  We have to measure our efforts agains a desired future.  Thank you, Liz and Bill Spear

Every day we are faced with choices. Some will have a life long impact, some will not. Being conscious of those decisions and not just going thru the motions will go a long way to forming our futures. Good post!

I think we can find ourselves just slogging through life for too long aimed in a less than advantageous direction.  Sometimes it's too late to get back on track; sometimes we can turn things around!  Thanks, Mimi Foster

Hi John- Every choice we make takes us down a certain path that leads to even more choices. But the point is that we have to make the choices...we have to take action. When we don't and we let life make the choices for us, we are like a ship without a rudder.

We are lucky to have choices!  We need to evaluate carefully what the possible outcomes of each choice might be and recalibrate.  A ship's rudder, if off just slightly, will get you to the wrong destination or put you in danger.  Thanks, Kathy Streib

Morning John.

The future is for me to decide what path I'll take.  I've made some bad decisions in the past and for sure, I'll make some more in the future.

Hi John,
This is such an important concept for people to grasp. What we do today may have short term or long term results. This nation is on the cusp of finding that out because we are ignoring the realities of world affairs and history.

As my pastor says, "Do not trade what is eternal for what is temporary."

Hi Carol Williams   Trading temporary for eternal is indeed a great mistake!  No doubt the big picture depends on many decisions by the players in any 'game'!  Thank you.

Hi John:

A simple concept in theory, but not necessarily an easy one to execute, depending on the situation. But it's important, perhaps even essential.
