Truth Is Stranger Than Fiction - You Decide!

By
Real Estate Agent with DFW FINE PROPERTIES 0506509

Oh what fun it is to participate in an ActiveRain Challenge! This month Anna and Carol put their heads together inviting members to write a story about a transaction. As a reminder, they said, "Truth is stranger than fiction." Here's my story - now you decide "True" or "Fake!"

A crazy thing happened to me about two years ago when I was out on a limb without my cell phone.

I found myself wandering in a very precarious position in West Texas during Thanksgiving weekend, 2017. It was after sunset. The roads were dark and narrow and there was snow on the ground! I was feeling hot and stuffy, so I rolled down the window. Then I heard it, psithurism, the sound of wind in the trees and rustling of leaves. Naturally, I thought of Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD and suddenly, it was as if John Muir was whispering in my ear!

"Trees go wandering forth in all directions with every wind, going and coming like ourselves, traveling with us around the sun two million miles a day, and through space heaven knows how fast and far!"

At that time, I was doing a lot of running around, feeling like I was covering "a million miles a day." Since I rationalized, I couldn't be lost, I had nowhere to go, I pulled over. Carefully, I put the car in park, making sure it wasn't in reverse and parked the car. I felt drawn to the trees. Something was pulling me into the forest! There must have been at least 199 species of trees I never saw before! They were whispering loudly! I wasn't the slightest bit afraid.... alright, maybe just a little. Suddenly....

Bob Crane appeared out of nowhere! There was a calmness in his voice. He said, "There are living things in the forest and it's a community of peace. Do not be afraid." And just like that, he disappeared! A gust of wind came out of nowhere. A scattering of yellow, orange, and red maple leaves gathered around my feet. Squirrels were making a lot of noise gathering nuts when then I couldn't believe my eyes because Anna Banana Kruchten CRB, GRI, WLS and Carol Williams were standing there laughing! They were having fun hiking in the snow. Anna turned her head and said, "A rolling stone gathers no moss, but it gains a certain polish!" They gave me a wink and turned down a winding fork up the road.

I recalled people said this to mean that an ambitious person is more successful than a person not trying to achieve anything. Next, an odd couple came walking towards me. Hey you! They said, "you're just in time!" We love when a realtor is on time and doesn't keep us waiting. I must have been talking to them in my sleep because they knew everything about me and the houses we were expecting to see the next day.

"Why, yes, I am Patricia Feager from Flower Mound!" Do you have your pre-approval letter, I asked? "Of course, they said.  Send me the list of houses you want to see in the morning and I'll be there after making sure they are still available. They handed me their pre-approval letter and contact information, telling me they were so happy to start their journey. There was a lot of Yada Yada Yada... showing houses, dinners together, different forms of communication, and finally, it was on the last Friday in December, 2017 we closed on their beautiful home. It was a successful and happy transaction!

The End

Haha, that's a unique story! Good thing that odd couple thought to bring a pre-approval along with them. Hahaha.

Kat Palmiotti - Unique is my Confirmation name! I just don't use it when I write my name. You are very clever yourself!

Yes! It was a good thing my odd couple brought the pre-approval letter. I love when clients listen and do what you ask, don't you? As you can tell from my story, I know the scripts by heart and can recite them talking face-to-face, in my sleep, by the phone, and any other form of communication. Whew! It's always a good day when people listen.

By your laughter, I can tell you had fun reading it too. Thanks, Kat!!! With you, I can always LOL!

Thanks, Brian England - Storytelling is something I really enjoy. I spent my childhood reading the entire collection of Hans Christian Andersen books from my parent's bookshelf.

Hmmm? I wonder what happened to them?

I kept waiting for the final line to say, "Then the dog started barking and I awoke from my dream." My vote is fake, but a wonderful story none the less.

I had fun reading about the snow in Texas. We got a foot of snow in Maine today! This was a very enjoyable fable. Now Patricia Feager, you can make your own decision if fables are true or fake!

Hi Margaret Mitchell - When I lived in Maine during summer months, I loved York and the people too!!! I'm glad you caught on about the snow in TX considering it was 80 degrees here yesterday but today it dropped drastically; yet not freezing. Thank you, for the big smile you put on my face this evening!!!

Sure sounds like the perfect AR MeetUp of six special members and ending with a successful closing. BTW...Did the commission check clear?

Love your 'heart' in the forest picture. Great imagination.

Margaret Rome, Baltimore Maryland - Actually, my clients were very unusual and their Title Company was too. I got my commission check by Pigeon Carrier. It was a couple days late because the Pigeon had to rest on a park bench and some people fed the pigeons too much bread so my Pigeon was delayed.  As they say, better late than never!

It was such an interesting transaction and meet-up too!!! Thanks for commenting on my photograph too! Some people say they see a light at the end of the tunnel; I see HEARTS!

Hearts to you too, Margaret!

Oh John Juarez - I never even made that connection between the squirrels and the people that I met in the forest that day. If I'm ever going to get published, I'll be sure to have you edit first! Or, maybe we could collaborate and write a story together! That would be FUN!

Gee! Thanks Kathleen Daniels! I'm glad you got a few chuckles. But now, on to some serious information (especially the last point of interest) that could be useful to know to you in case you're ever on "Jeopardy" or "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire!"

The size of a squirrel's brain is approximately the size of a walnut, which is surprisingly the same size as a crocodile's brain.

Squirrels are extremely intelligent creatures. They are known to put on elaborate bogus food burying displays to deceive onlookers. The fake burials are to trick potential thieves, such as other squirrels or birds, into thinking that they have stored their food stock there.

Squirrels have a memory span of 27 seconds and are so fast that they can run at the speed of 20 miles per hour when threatened.

Scientists have found that squirrels can destroy and re-grow their brains during hibernation.

Laugh on!!! Life is good when we are laughing and enjoying ourselves!!! I wish we were together right now because I think we'd be laughing and crying all the way to New Years Day!
