Factose Intolerance has no business in real estate.
Seems the direct approach of relaying information has become unacceptable by those who lack the confidence to share fact-based news, especially bad news. Some will go to great lengths to skirt the issue, taking an indirect approach, talking a lot about nothing to avoid discussing subjects that may cause them discomfort.
Instead, they opt for:
- sugar coating
- beating around the bush
- taking an extended circuitous route
When did society become so sensitive? Straight-on exchanging of information between parties has been replaced, in part, with texting, e-mailing, voice messaging to avoid face-to-face scenarios. In my opinion, body language, inflections and tone of voice are all part of solidifying relations between parties.
Disappointments within the industry occur daily. For some, the process is impeded by unreasonable demands, buyer/seller getting cold feet, the cancellation of contract during due diligence, renegotiating the contract because of lender terms, so many things can directly or indirectly affect forward progress.
Buyer and seller clients deserve a direct line of communication from agents, with zero-added fluff to make a point. Never will I hem-haw around when disclosing facts that affect the four corners of a contract. Misunderstandings can come from using too many add-on words while relaying an intended message.
A cotton candy approach when conversing with clients, other agents, lenders, appraisers, home inspectors, lacks effectiveness and sincerity. Those who refuse to use manage their words wisely, can fall hard, while saying goodbye to business.
Factose Intolerance plays no part in my personal or professional life. Your thoughts?
