Saturday Smiles: Other Vendors At The Santa Barbara Farmers Market

By

Other than the usual variety of fruits and vegetables, we also have different vendors. like Fat Uncle Farms who specializes in selling almonds in many flavors including "naked!"We buy the sea salt variety that are perfect as a snack for a long plane trip.

We have been buying shitake mushrooms at the grocery stores on a regular basis.  These grown by the Papaya Man are so delicate and delicious.

We also have seasonal vendors who show up with their crop, like these satsumas tangerines pictured above.

The kiwi guy showed up this.  He drives quite a distance to get here for us to enjoy his organic crop.

As I writes these posts, Ron and I are constantly reminded of the bounty that surrounds us, and the wonderful dedicated people who grow these delicacies for our enjoyment.  We appreciate that they keep their farmlands organic and viable for future generations.  This is what inspires us to visit the Farmers Market every Saturday, when we are in town.  It is definitely one of our Smile Landmarks.

Wishing you all an abundance of Saturday Smiles, and an enjoyable weekend!

Barbara Todaro we love almonds, and for us they are perfect for plane snacks.  Most airline food is not all that healthy from our viewpoint.  A

They do have a niche there, just like the Pistachio folks, and they have a good clientele that is attracted to them.  A

Always enjoy your Farmers market photos, thise mushrooms look delicious. I saw a kiwi farm once, quite impressive to see so many growing as opposed to just seeing them in the store.

Kiwi is one of my favorites.  And I haven't had them in a while, now I'll have to get some this week.

Morning Alexandra.

I would like to try the Cajun ones.  However, like you and Ron I know, I would like the sea salt ones

I love tangerines, Alexandra. What I want to know is what is different about satsumas tangerines. I also love kiwis and these would certainly get my attention.

I always enjoy your visits to the farmers' market. Thanks for sharing your photographs. Chef Dolores would have purchased some of the mushrooms.

Everything looks wonderful, Alexandra! How lucky are you to have a year-round local market?!

I often snack on almonds as well. In fact, I discovered 'Nutty & Fruity' snacks when Ray was in Denver and as you said, they make great in-air snacks.
