Community and Real Estate Information

Winter Hill is a hilltop hamlet with Medford Street on the south, McGrath Highway on the east, and Magoun Square on the west. The region has a rich and distinguished history going back to the early 1800s. Among the many sites on the National Register of Historic Places in the region are the Adams-Magoun House, the Charles Adams-Woodbury Locke House, the Broadway Winter Hill Congregational Church, and the Elisha Hopkins House. A large section of the area has been converted into commercial properties. Restaurants, diners, cafés, shops, and a variety of other businesses are all open in the neighborhood. Winter Hill, like many other Somerville areas, has seen substantial gentrification. The vast majority of the area's accessible real estate has been repurchased by rich families wanting to relocate to the suburbs.

Winter Hill real estate consists of a combination of Colonial-style homes with a variety of house designs. There are triplexes, duplexes, townhouses, and single-family homes for sale throughout the neighborhood. Low-rise apartment complexes may also be found throughout the community, broadening the range of real estate possibilities accessible to buyers. Smaller homes with one or two bedrooms with prices ranging from $500,000 to $900,000 are the most affordable alternatives in the neighborhood. The bigger triplexes and multi-family homes are usually valued higher than a million dollars. The floor areas of the houses in the complex range from 600 to 3,800 square feet.

Business Opportunities

The new Green Line Extension (GLX) station, as well as the enhanced amenities introduced to Winter Hill, will delight you. You'll need to make a reservation for supper at Sarma, a highly regarded modern Mediterranean restaurant, well in advance! Because these streets are broad, resident parking isn't a problem.

Important Considerations

Because Broadway is busier with automobiles and buses, it is a little noisier. The busy through traffic is separated a little more on side streets.
