I started my business after leaving the corporate world of HR in 2008. I had the knowledge and the experience but I did not have the customers yet. I was also a member of BNI and a fellow member Debbie Gartner had a floor covering business. She had been in marketing before she had the flooring business.
Debbie was very marketing savvy and attracted my attention. One day when she was doing a flooring estimate for Phyllis and me she was excited to tell us about this blogging group she had joined called Active Rain. She had recently attended a Rain Camp and was excited.
Well, I don't sell Real Estate I thought but would love to have people in Real Estate and related fields as clients. We met one day in Starbucks and she set me up. That was August 2011. So Debbie was my mentor. I started. I started following people and started having followers. So how did this help me. The picture above is a meetup in White Plains with Debbie Gartner , Joanna Cohlan , Hillary Sheperd and others.
Well I had a new website built with a blog. I was in the same group of affiliates and coaches as Leanne Smith. Some other affiliates had web sites and blog but nothing much. I had learned blogging from Bob Stewart 's seminars and I used it in my regular blog too. My web site got noticed and I got SEO. I wrote a blog every week blowing away the web developers at my affiliate organization. I have never stopped. I write a blog every week. I repurpose the blog and put it on Active Rain. That has gotten me business and recognition. I have had some work with AR members. I also sent it to social media and received some great clients including a multi unit restaurant company in New Orleans Below.
Spahr's Restaurant Group in New Orleans area billed themselves as the premier Cajun restaurant of southern Louisiana.
Thanks Aura Alex , Leanne Smith , and Carol Williams for the challenge.
