We recently had the opportunity to stage a beautiful Mediterranean style new construction home in Sherman Oaks, CA. The home had been on the market unstaged for several months, with no offers. Across the street was another new construction home in a similar style, also for sale, at almost the exact same price, with similar square footage, lot size, etc. The home staged by Moving Mountains Design sold - the other home (staged by another company) is still for sale.

Hi Michelle, What a gorgeous home, and absolutely beautiful staging! I did get a little dizzy on the stairs though. LOL This for sharing the beauty of this home with us.

Thank you Donna. It was a fun project and a very pleasant environment to work in. I wish we had time to avail ourselves of the pool.

Michelle, that's a lovely home and beautifully staged. The other house, though, is what I call "Scary Staging!"

Maureen: Because I don't know all the particulars (budget, homeowner interference, etc.) I want to think that the stager did the best they could with what they had to work with. Sadly, I don't think the staging will help sell that house, whatever the reason.

I like the "tag" for the 'other' staging when you mouse over the link ;-) You did a stellar job as always and the obvious differences in the level of professionalism between the 2 properties astounds me. I almost have to wonder if the formal living room set belongsto the owners, and the dining set....well - not something for an almost $3M home... Unfortunate for the stager that you can tell that the owners instructed them not to hang anything on the walls as apparent by the leaning mirrors & artwork (or they aren't properly insured)....

"Why did the Stager cross the road?" Because the developer will see the difference between the 2 and hire you! =)

PS - LOVE your wall tapestry, I've been bulking up on these lately as well.

Michelle, I love the dark couches. I had a round mirror like that but I removed it from over the fireplace. I wasn't sure what I thought about it, but now that I see this, I might put it back.

Connie: Thank you Connie. As I said, I don't know who the other stager was or what they were given to work with so it is hard to say why they made the choices they did. But sometimes no staging is better than not so good or cheapy cheap staging.

The tapestry is an antique from France. My rug guys supplied it. Good quality tapestries are difficult to find and they are usually expensive even if they are repros. Thanks for commenting.

Michelle: I'm glad you like the dark couches. They are some of my favorites. I get rid of the ugly pillows they come with and use my own. I tried a painting over the FP, but the mirror looked so much better it was a no brainer.

Do I understand that you use a separate supplier for your rugs than you rent the furniture from?

Hi Beth: I have a strategic alliance with a group of Persian rug dealers. On higher end homes I need the real deal. Brook's rugs are too contemporary for some of my projects.

Beautiful staging as always Michelle. I love the maison lanore tables in this home. Do you have two leaves in the dining table to make is so large? It looks gorgeous! I also love the colorful kitchen table setting staging. My favorite colors!! Thanks for sharing!! When and where is your expo going to be?
