THE REAL RULES OF GOLF

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty Chesterfield

After reviewing the rules of golf I believe that in order to keep the golfers here in the AR community should be made aware of some of the finer rules.  We do have ethics and we are supposed to be ethical in all areas of our profession.  So the next time you are on the links please feel free to help your fellow realtor be ethical during your round.

THE REAL RULES OF GOLF

The shortest distance between any two points on a golf course is a straight line that passes directly through the center of a very large tree.

There are two kinds of bounces: unfair bounces, and bounces just the way you meant to play it.

You can hit a 2-acre fairway 10% of the time, and a 2-inch branch 90% of the time.

Every time a golfer makes a birdie, he must subsequently make two triple bogeys to restore the fundamental equilibrium of the universe.

If you want to hit a 7-iron as far as Tiger Woods does, simply try to lay up just short of a water hazard.

To calculate the speed of a player's downswing, multiply the speed of his back swing by his handicap. Example: back swing 20 mph, handicap 15, downswing 300mph.

There are two things you can learn by stopping your back swing at the top and checking the position of your hands: how many hands you have, and which one is wearing the glove.

Hazards attract; fairways repel.

You can put "draw" on the ball, you can put "fade" on the ball, but no golfer can put "straight" on the ball.

A ball you can see in the rough from 50 yards away is not yours.

If there is a ball in the fringe and a ball in the bunker, your ball is in the bunker.

If both balls are in the bunker, yours is in the footprint.

Don't buy a putter until you've had a chance to throw it.

Happy Golfing

Don, He's definitely getting better and hitting more and more consistently in the 80's.  However, when he goes to Nebraska to visit his grandmother, her friends always go, "Oh, is this the one who threw his club that day?"  So there is a huge story about how he threw his club on the course when he was 15 years old, and that was almost 25 years ago!  Funny the different things people remember.

Mel,

You will be in a new office before you know it and going stronger than before.  Either way consider the game of golf for some fun.

So you are an avid "Foot" wedge user too!

BTW, Mel says that she likes to play croquet too.

Hi Don,

Thank for the laughs!  For the rest of my life, my family will never let me live down the house I nailed on the first tee at a certain golf course.  :)

Not Yet Licensed,

I am soooooooooooooooo glad that it is you that has to go through life with that stigma attached to them.  I would say just one thing--------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Don't let the kids or grandkids find out about this" with any luck you may not have to carry it to the grave with you..:-))

Don - I like your rules.  They are very funny, but they are sooo true!  Don't forget the rule that every hole gets a couple of "mulligans"...  :)
