Elk Grove CA Morse Community ParkNeighbors in Elk Grove CA will be celebrating the GRAND Opening of the fruit of their labor, Morse Community Park on August 16, 2008

Even though this area has been hit hard with real estate foreclosures and short sales, along with declining revenue to build parks in these new neighborhoods, Morse Community Park is a true testament of neighbors who care.

These homeowners got together, got the community to help by donating money, time and labor along with CSD to build what is a first in Elk Grove parks.

Morse Community Park offers "spray-ground" water area, bocce ball courts, skateboard area, tot play area with shaded areas, outdoor fitness equipment, restrooms, seating for 100 under a shaded structure plus more to come.  There's even little teaching areas about the butterfly along the path.

I understand that soccer and baseball fields, dog park and a future community center will all be built on this 30 acre park that has been the sweat and dreams for these neighbors.  Come take a tour of Morse Park and check out the video I took after showing new home buyers houses for sale in Elk Grove this weekend.

For just $10 you can donate a tile for a sea themed mural that will decorate some of the retaining walls. Just call 714-3225 before Sept. 1, 2008 and get yours personalized or visit I Made It! Be a part of a community building on the future of tomorrow. Come on by and see for yourself why this park is so special at Bellaterra Drive and Landview Drive in Elk Grove, CA.

Help support those that went out of their way in this hard economy by helping these volunteers see a dream come true. Here is a list of those who contributed. Now, you can help by supporting these businesses in Elk Grove:

  • Baja Burrito, 9015 Bruceville Rd
  • Mr. Pickles, 7419 Laguna Blvd

  • Chick-fil-A, 8430 Bond Rd.
  • Nugget Market, 9670 Bruceville Rd

William, isn't it fantastic when a story like this happens. Amazing neighbors with an amazing drive to get a park for their families when all around them are signs of foreclosures and short sales. Nothing stopped these homeowners to reach their goal and accomplish their dream.

Lynda, it warmed my heart when I found out about Morse Community Park in Elk Grove and how these neighbors worked so hard to develop this land when most parks are not being developed due to the money crunch right now. This truly is a remarkable community.

It was only about 4 years ago that I saw my first "spray park" in Dallas, Texas. I loved it then, and I continue to love them now.  The most incredible spray park I have seen, was in London England, at the Cortauld Art Gallery.  Imagine magnificient Georgian archetecture, and statues - with a beautiful spray park immediately in front of it.

Elk Grove has much to be proud of with the accomplishment of creating this delightful asset to their community.

Tom, yes it is...and great things, too!

Georgina, yes all in the midst of the foreclosure mess they came together for the good of the neighborhood.

Trey, no it is the 1st of it's kind in Elk Grove however there are spray courts in other areas.

Myrl, sounds like a fantastic spray court in Dallas. Elk Grove CA is very proud to have one of its first spray courts in Elk Grove after a lot of hard work on the part of the neighbors. I'm sure the kids will love it for years to come.
