How was that possible? A clay specialist winning on grass? There are two major reasons:  The grass at Wimbledon is not as fast as before, and secondly:  Rafa has improved his serve dramatically and added a nasty sliced backhand to his now enormous talent. Oh yea I forgot, the guy can run!

                                      Federer

Tennis fascinates me, epecially, the mental aspect of it . Its amazing how much you learn about people just by playing a few sets against them. When I was 16 I went pretty high in a few tournaments in France in a para-professinal league.  One year later, I knew I was not going to make it as a professional.  A friend of mine, some guy called Roger Vasselin I grew up with and fought against on the red clay, went on to the semis at Rolland Garros. By then he could beat me with his eyes closed. I guess he was more mature, more driven to give his life to it.

So, what makes a good athlete a great champion?

I am just amazed at how fast Rafael Nadal has adapted to hard courts and grass. This guy can think on the court. So who can think the best will win at the US Open?

Rafa

My guess is that Mr Federer is rather ticked off of having not only lost twice this year to Rafael Nadal in two majors, but was virtually destroyed by him. I am picking him  as my favorite to beat Nadal. Why? just because he wants it so bad he will do anything to win at this point.  If he wins, my sister, who lives in Switzerland, will be happy. She is a huge fan.

I certainly would like to see James Blake do well and time is starting to run out for him. He might have three more years before its to late. But who is going to remplace Agassi? No one for now. These are big shoes to fill.

One thing for sure: we can play tennis all year in Southwest Florida. For great communities with tennis amenities just contact me.So far, Laguna Lakes,a great gated community some 6 miles to Fort Myers Beach. has the best tennis courts by far.

Fort Myers Beach has four great public hard court with a rubber layer at Bay Oaks. You can even play under the lights in the evening which is pretty cool. There are many communities with tennis courts along  Estero Blvd.Tennis anyone?

Happy Hunting

Sean: I figured football is more your thing. John McEnroe was the gifted serve and volley with that well known temper who probably is the one who ended Borg's career at Wimbledon.Talking about sports I was surprised that Tom Brady was not picked on the first draft round.
