Partnering with local Stagers... Why would you NOT?

By
Home Stager with Platinum Home Staging, Inc. : RESA-Pro

Many Professional Stagers have been posing the question of "Do I or don't I" partner or work with fellow Stagers in my area?  Here in SoCal I believe that there are quite a few of us that have embraced the fact that, although we may at times be competing for the same business, it only drives the industry forward and betters ourselves amongst the business mindset.

Whether you "hire" another Stager to help on a project, or have the karma mindset of scratch-my-back-and-I'll-scratch-yours mentality, it can only help but benefit BOTH parties.  I for one need to send out HUGE thank you's to some of which I have sent referrals to, and whom which have either reciprocated the favors, or personally helped on Staging properties with their own sweat equity.

Michelle Minch ~ Moving Mountains Design Home Staging

Terri Lucas ~ Exclusive Home Staging

Janice Sutton ~ 1st Stage Property Transformations

Monica Soberman ~ Stage to Move

But a HUGE thank you, goes out to Patti Glover of Stage It In a Day

Literally calling upon her assistance the night before I was to Stage a property (completely in a bind) she came through and helped with flying colors.  I can NOT thank her enough and look forward to working with her in the future!  The following are a couple pics of the fruit of our collaborative labor.  THANK YOU, Patti!

I totally agree with you!  We have affiliated with a wonderful staging company in our area, Tweeked, inc., and we work together on large jobs and refer to each other knowing our clients will receive top notch service.  We also enjoy joint marketing efforts and supporting each other in our industry.  We have also created relationships with 2 other staging companies in our area and we all get together on a regular basis to discuss bringing staging to a new leve in Charleston.  Congratulations to you for realizing that competition is GOOD and we should not speak poorly of stagers in our areas.

Wendy ~ I'm so happy to start your week off on the right foot.  Michelle and Janice are wonder women in my book!

Patti ~ Yes, in our area we would ALL be very busy for quite a while if we Staged every house on the market (isn't that the ultimate goal?)  I take pride in knowing that I can confidently "pass" clients to other Stagers when they are out of my service area, or I'm simply too busy to take on another property.  Clients, Realtors and fellow Stagers will all remember it down the road !  (pat-pat-pat) BTW - I still owe you lunch ;-), I'll call you!

Kathleen ~ What phenominal results for the lucheon, one that will only stregthen the confidence of the industry in your area. Congrats!

Whew! Did I miss anyone?

I just want to throw this out there so people can start planning: I'll be hosting the RESA Roundtable for the Los Angeles area, November 14 at the Brook Furniture Showroom in Sherman Oaks. All professional home stagers are invited regardless of education or affiliation. You don't even have to be a RESA member. Brook will be providing lunch. I will post a formal invite soon.

Connie, you better be there!

How incredible is this post?  I can't say enough kind words about how meaningful your post is, Connie.  You nailed it.  And for those that were listed - they're on the top of the list of staging professionals.

I do not know any stagers in my  home area - that doesn't mean there aren't any, I just don't know them. They have no websites, I don't have a clue where or if they trained and I have seen a few photos of supposedly "staged"  work - poor.

Terri ~You are so welcome, it is my honor and privilege and the same goes for you!

Kathleen ~ Sounds like you have the monopoly in your area!  However the "other" stagers might need to take notes!

There is only one other stager advertising in my town - until reading this, I wouldn't have considered contacting her to see if there is any room for potential partnering, but I think you've inspired me to reach out - thanks

Connie,

I'll have to put you on my list if you put me on yours!  LOL

I know that we all have times that we are double booked, sick, on vacation, or just can't figure out how you are ever going to pull off this job, but thankfully with a great resource like AR and our fellow staging assoc. contact lists we can all feel that we are not alone and that we can call on each other for help or support anytime.

Great pictures!

Great post and beautiful photos Connie!  I do not know what I would do without my network of stagers, especially when a big job comes along last minute or I am going out of town or not feeling well.  You have some great, talented ladies down south!!

I agree - I have a fantastic group of women that I work with who are all CSP stagers as well. Coincidentally we all have similar design ideas so I know that they will come up with great ideas if I send them off to do stage a room on their own. We all share our successes, our hardships and our business ideas. It works great because we all own our own independant companies, but have professional assistants when we need it.

Right on, Connie!  Why would I NOT?
Like Michelle mentions above, there are over 12,000 active listings on the Austin Metro MLS.  Not including builders with spec homes sitting vacant.  At my last count, there were about 40x active Home Stagers in the area.  I'm not greedy - I could live with 1/2% of those (60). :)

I call in Stagers whenever I have budget to - two eyes are better than one. Then I started referring any thing over 25 miles when gas hit $4/gallon in the hopes that other Stagers would refer their long drives back to me.  Some reciprocate, some do not.  I just do not refer back to those who do not reciprocate or offer a referral fee.

Angela ~ I say go for it! Helping each other out and bouncing jobs to each other will only build the industry and grow your business.  Good luck!

Reece ~ Mi casa, su casa!  and you're right, we can't do it "alone"  even if we have employees and assistants: in this case, my assistant was returning the night before from FRANCE!

Cathy ~ Yes, we do !!! And so MANY to choose from!  Sometimes "life happens" and you need to know that there are other professions in the industry you can count on!

Susan ~ Don't be afraid to "think out side the box" of CSP Stagers as well (dare I say that?).  I don't ANY of the Stagers I've mentioned or partnered with have the same affiliation,  but then again I've never bothered to ask.  I know that they already do excellent work.

You can bet if I were in your area I'd be dying to work with you and Michelle!

Heck I'd fly out there if I could afford it just to be a fly on the wall and watch you guys in action.

Oops, I forgot to add:

I don't like working alone. I prefer to work with other stagers not that I've had the opportunity a few times. It is so nice to have others who get you around and you know you can just give them a task and not have to worry...they will get it done and it will look great.

Working with fellow stagers you admire = stressless staging!

Micheal ~ You snuck in there too - two eyes are always better than one, and yes, around here 1/2% of the listings would suit me just fine!

Dane ~ LOL, that "fly on the wall" would see one dirty & sweaty Stager saying not so nice things when she drops and breaks something!  I would be honored to have you join me/us when you get called to stage the next BET set ;-D
