By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Missy Caulk TEAM

Weber-Blaess School house was moved to the Saline District Schools Campus in June of 2002. It is  the original one room school house of children in Saline MI and Lodi Township. The school house is used by elementary school children to create the experience of a one room, county school house.

It is right on the campus and is a monument to how far we have come.

It has been totally restored by the Saline Historical Society and dedicated in 2004. It is also available for rent.

Thanks for this!  Haven't seen one of these in awhile!  I love the quaint nature that the one room school house presents!

Hi Missy -

It's been a few years since I was traveling traveling through Saline.  It has built up so much.  I always wanted to know the whole story about the green house and land in the middle of town and US12.  I had always heard that some wealthy person owned the home and left all the wealth to the town to take care of house and property.

Yes it is the Curtis Home, actual tunnels under it to free slaves. I have had several clients ask me why the Ford/Visteon Plant was so close to town ?

I just laugh and let them know that when they built the Ford Plant it was a dirt road, the town built around and beyond it. Back then it was a dirt road.

Yes, it is growing tremendously. Still a quiet community and a great place to raise a family

Missy, I didn't know there were any in the area. Nice to know.

Actually, from seeing some of the home schooled kids on tv, we may have to revert to the idea of a one room school.

This is great.  I bet the kids learn a lot more by getting to see and experience an actual one room school house.  Living history!

Tina, the kids learn a lot. And the historical society restored it.

Hi Missy,

Wanted to let you know how thrilled I was to find your site. My granddaughter is going to a two room school house this coming year and is so excited. Also, I lived in Saline in the middle 50's and was a good friend of Mary Curtis'. She and I played in the Curtis house quite a lot in those days. At that time, it was a "magical" house to me as we ventured thru the different rooms and played in the huge yard. I was wondering if you know if Mary is still in the Saline area?

Thank you so much for the info!!
